You have seen the rise in home prices, but metro Detroit is still one great place to afford your own home. Granted, Cleveland, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati might be a shade below, but you can afford an average home in Detroit if you make a shade of $30,000 a year, which is pretty good.
