This house, 134 years old, is located in a great location five blocks from downtown Northville.  As the Detroit Free Press observes, that means a lot of great events you can walk to.  Since we did not get a Featured Listing Friday post up recently and this is for sale, after all, we have decided to have Featured Listing Friday on Sunday, instead, this week.

This is a starter property for someone who wants to quit renting.  You can't get a mortgage for this amount, so you usually have to have cash.  Still, it is a lot better financially than renting in this area.  You come out ahead after maybe two years or so.

Sometimes, a property does not show well, but would be a great value if you can get past the surface flaws.  This may be the case here.  Although it is in a great place with wonderful schools, a glance at some of the pictures shows a house that needs some work.

Sometimes you have to look past the surface to find a good value.  This Lincoln Park home is listed for $34,900 which is a good price for the neighborhood.  But, you say, it is only a one bedroom.  That's because it had some work done inside converting it from a two-bedroom house.

There have been some snarky reviews of the Ann Arbor estate of former Detroit Tiger Brandon Inge, which is currently on the market for $2.6 million.  The home is apparently decorated in a French Country motif, and some have taken to calling it too frilly for a baseball player.

Curbed Detroit has the info, but I should tell you that I look with longing on this place every single time I drive by it on Woodward Avenue.  Why, I even thought about interviewing at Charfoos & Christensen just so I could see the inside of the place up close.

This would look great as my office.

$2.8 million, 21,000 square feet, 49 rooms.  A carriage house with 5,900 square feet out back so that your guests aren't underfoot (can they ever be underfoot in a place this big?)  Not to mention a great facade and roofline.
