Suh Selling Super Southeast Michigan Place
Ndamukong Suh is putting his Birmingham residence on the market, now that he is no longer playing for the Detroit Lions. If you have $3.45 million available and are looking for a great place, here it is.
The place sits on over an acre close to downtown Birmingham, which doubtless helps raise the price significantly. It includes a workout room and a message room, as well as five bedrooms, four baths, three half-baths and a pool among its almost 7400 square feet.

Bam! The House Won't Sell!
Poor Emeril Lagasse. His New Orleans mansion has been on the market since March of 2013, cut the asking price several times, and still has not sold. You can read my own theory on why after the jump.
I know you want to see what the kitchen looks like. Here it is.
6700 square feet, great location, four bedrooms, four baths, three first floor powder rooms, a 1500 sq. ft. kitchen (bigger than many people's entire houses), this place has it all. And yet, from the initial ask of $1.625 million dropping down to $1,45 mil, nary a purchaser in sight.

Kelly Ripa Sells Her NY Place
Living room of the penthouse, featuring a great staircase.
Kelly Ripa and her husband have sold their New York penthouse for $20 million. I'm not going to go into all of the details (that's what links are for), but I will put up a gratuitous picture of Kelly.

Ellen DeGeneres, Real Estate Mogul
This is worth a look, even if the news is from the summer.
Ellen DeGeneres bought a house in Los Angeles for $40 million. Right after she did her renovations, Napster founder Sam Parker wanted to buy it for $55 million. So Ellen said, "Uh, okay" or something like that.
TMZ has the scoop.

Art Van's Spectacular Estate On Auction Block
The founder of Art Van furniture is selling his house. Everything must go! You get the bargains! Buy now! Free financing for five years!
We're kidding about the financing, but the exclusive abode of Art Van Elslander has been for sale for over a year at $15.9 million without a sale, so now it is going up for auction, instead. Considering that this is the highest listing price ever in Michigan, it was going to take a certain type of buyer (paging Dan Gilbert!) at the right time to make a sale on this. So to the auction house it goes. The Detroit News has the info, along with a ton of great pictures from the auction listing. Put your bids in on October 28th.
We wrote about this place before, when it first went up for sale last year. Actually, we had a wittier headline when we wrote about it before, too. At the time, we called it "the best place in Michigan to live." It is spectacular. A lot more pictures after the jump:

Kenny Rogers Mansion Not For Gamblers
Kenny Rogers, successful country singer, is putting his Atlanta-area ranch up for sale. Apparently he has decided it's time to fold 'em.
As the picture from Bankrate says below, he is asking $4.8 million. For that, you get a great place, from the looks of it. Six bedrooms, twelve baths (8 full), and almost 12,000 square feet. Sounds like a great place for entertaining, with a pool that has a swim-up bar (no need to walk away unless the dealing is done).
There is also a home theater and a basketball court. Yep, this is not a place where you keep to yourself.
We are kind of liking the style of this place. It is so inviting and warm. Like this hallway, for example:

Robbie Krieger's House and Treehouse
Robbie Krieger, amazing guitarist from The Doors, gave HGTV a peek inside his southern California home. Since I am a huge Doors fan going back to my youth, I have to share it with you here.
In his Doors days, Krieger was a popular fan choice for favorite guitar player. Keep in mind that this was during the same time as Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton were all playing. Pretty distinguished company.

Wilford Brimley Sows Oats in Town, Instead
I bet he'll miss this part.
Wilford Brimley, who is turning 80, has decided he is at the time of his life when he downsizes. As a result, he is selling his 275-acre ranch and has moved his oatmeal eating, diabetic self into town, instead. Here he is blacksmithing at his place.

Brady-Budchen Brentwood Abode Acquired
We gave you a look at Tom-and-Gisle's mansion in Brentwood, CA back in November, but now we're going to have to go back in the archives and change the story, because it is no longer theirs.
Fresh off selling his business selling over-priced headphones to hipsters (or maybe hiphopsters?), Dr. Dre has taken part of his money and put it into the moated palace that was once owned by the celebrity couple. About $40 million or so of his money.
The house, which you might recall was big enough for their family to live in for extended visits, but billed as environmentally friendly (salvaged tile and solar panels), was expendable because the couple are apparently focusing more on New York as the place to live their dream life. They will be downsizing to a penthouse in the $10-million range.
Although there are multiple stories on this, we will reference the sports news website Bleacher Report for our information here. Plus they are the source of the Dr. Dre picture above which we just HAD to use.
So no more pictures of Gisele in her garden. Reminisce with us here:

Update: Ferris Bueller House Sells
We told you some long time ago that the house where Cameron lived in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", complete with glass garage, was for sale in the suburban Chicago area. Well, it recently sold for $1.06 million.
It had been on the market for about five years and the owners clearly were holding out for more, a lot more. It just may be that the Ferrari that went out the back of the garage was worth more than the house, after all is said and done.

Psych's Maggie Lawson Moves On

Maggie Lawson, one of the stars of the recently-ended tv series Psych, has sold her home in Los Feliz, California. She got her full asking price of $2.2 million and the home sold rather quickly, according to Realtor.com.
One thing I didn't know is that she has apparently been dating Psych's James Roday for years. Their interactions on screen were undoubtedly the better for it.
Focusing back on the house, it has four bedrooms, three and a half baths, and 2900 square feet. Her new digs in Bronson Canyon are smaller, at 1400 square feet. Not sure what that's about.
The home features an open floor plan.

Bruce Willis, Sun Valley, Cheaper
Bruce Willis has reduced the asking price on his Sun Valley, California home. Before you call your local realtor, it is still $8.8 million.
For that, you get 20 acres and 8 bedrooms. It was originally listed for $15 million back in 2011, but Bruce has kept cutting the ask to try to unload it. At this point, it is almost half price.
We don't show enough master closets in places like this. Here's this one.

A Spock-Tacular House--Leonard Nimoy
Modern decorating mixed with a traditional Japanese Tea House. Highly illogical.
It makes more sense when you realize that Leonard Nimoy, of Star Trek fame, has a wife who likes to use the Tea House to meditate. Otherwise, the Bel Air home emphasizes white walls, black floors, and art that looks better because of the first two things.
Regular blog readers will know that this place is not my style, but I also get that others would disagree and that's fine.
It's also interesting that Nimoy points out that the placement of his office allows him to see who is coming and going through the front door. Apparently he does not want people materializing in front of him without warning. Ironic, isn't it?
Yes, pointy ears are in fact on display.

Mariah Carey Wants You...To Buy Her House
All she wants for Christmas is you...really.
Mariah Carey, she still has one of the best singing voices of all time in pop music. Go ahead, listen to her first album again. I'll still be here when you come back.
See, wasn't that great? Well, she and husband Nick Cannon are selling their house in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles for a shade under $13 million. Keep in mind, they paid less than $7 million for the place in 2008 and have not really done major renovations. Is this entirely market driven? Perhaps.

Dick Clark's Malibu Home Copied the Flintstones
Now we're wondering why Pebbles and Bam Bam (they had a band when they were teenagers, remember?) were never on American Bandstand. Clearly, Dick Clark was thinking of Bedrock when he built this place. And the best part is, it is for sale!
Apparently, the outside had to blend with nature in order to be built on the hilltop and still comply with the zoning, but the inside is all Clark's doing. Perhaps Wilma served as his muse.
From afar, it must look like part of the hills.

Celebrity Home: Shakira
Now that The Voice is back for a new season, we have an excuse to feature judge Shakira's Miami home, which was put on the market last year. She bought it for under $4 million, put on additions, and had it for sale for $15 million. Does it matter to your life if it sold or not?
Follow the link to more pictures (of the house, silly!) and even a video (of the house!).

The World is Yours At This Scarface Mansion
How much would Tony Montana's place be worth these days? David Cross and the Movoto blog try to figure it out.
Montana, outrageously successful drug dealer until his sudden demise, sure had a banging pad. Place for the lions to live, an office with a balcony and a hidden gun closet, awe-inspiring stairway in the foyer, no extravagance was spared.
On the other hand, there was too much neon and garish decor. And do you really want lions where you live? Plus all of those outdated security devices will need a major upgrade. All of this before we even start talking about vacuuming up all of the white powder that is EVERYWHERE in the place.
I only have two things in this life, and one of them is not a vacuum.
Oh well, those are all things that can be fixed. What you need to know is that the place used in the movie was not actually in Coral Cables, Florida, but was in California. So, putting a price on the place is a matter of transferring the specs and charging the square foot price of Coral Cables ($1,115!) and that gives you $11 million or so.

Claude Lemieux Can't Go Turtle Here Anymore
He may still be one of the most unpopular people in the world around metro Detroit, but Claude Lemieux had a very good NHL career and was paid enough money playing hockey to live the good life. Now he has unloaded the Phoenix-area home he used when he played for the Coyotes in the twilight of his career. We've got lots of pictures and snarky comments.

Wake Here All Over Again--Groundhog Day B&B For Sale
Apparently, if you have seen the movie, you recognize the place. Since I never really have, I have to trust everyone on that.
But the Bed & Breakfast that was used to film the movie is definitely for sale, and for about $1 million.
